John Leonard is a Lieutenant at the Coconut Creek Police Department. He is a charter member of Chapter VIII and is also a member of Team Hot Pursuit. John is widely known for his hot pink bike which sadly, was destroyed in a tragic accident. John enjoys spending time with his family, as well as cycling and traveling. He feels that the reality of what we do and how the survivors we meet could be any one of our families completely puts everything into perspective.
Krista Williamson is the ITD Training Coordinator at the Collier County Sheriff's Office. She has been a member of the Police Unity Tour since 2006. Before moving to Florida, Krista started her law enforcement career at the Chesapeake Police Department in Chesapeake, Virginia. Krista spent time as both a dispatcher and a law enforcement officer before leaving the Chesapeake Police Department. She and her husband Mark moved to Florida together in 2000. Her most memorable experience in the Police Unity Tour is meeting the family of the officer she honored her first year.
Joey Brown is a Lieutenant with the Georgia State Patrol where he serves as the assistant Troop B Commander, covering 21 counties in Northeast Georgia. He has been a member of the Police Unity Tour since 2007 and is a founding member of Team Blue Thunder. Joey started his law enforcement career at the Georgia State Patrol one month after his 19th birthday, and is now in his 26th year of service. When he is not working, he enjoys coaching youth football, riding his bicycle, bow hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Joey’s most memorable moment in the tour was seeing his wife and kids waiting for him at the memorial his first year.
Dawn Myers is a Deputy Chief at the 13th Judicial Circuit, Office of Mark Ober, State Attorney. She is responsible for prosecuting the more than 150 gangs at work in Hillsborough County. In her spare time Dawn enjoys working out and competing in triathlons from sprint distances to Ironmans. She has been a member of the Police Unity Tour since 2008. Her most memorable experience during the Tour was observing the bond that is created between riders and survivors meeting for the first time at the Memorial.
Lisa Smithers-Cambridge is a Vice President at Comprehensive Behavioral Care. She is married to Detective Roderick Cambridge of the Temple Terrace Police Department. Lisa has been a member of the Police Unity Tour since 2007. When her husband introduced the idea of being a part of the tour, she was not sure if it was something for her. After meeting the family of the officer she participated for during her first year, this would be an event she would be fully committed to without doubt. She believes there is nothing more inspiring than knowing that the memories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Andy Raphael is a Master Trainer at the Hallandale Beach Police Department where he serves as their Sexual Offender Tracking Coordinator. He has been a member of the Police Unity Tour since 2007 and is a founding member of Team Hot Pursuit. Andy has over 24 years in public service as a Police Officer, Corrections Officer, Firefighter/E.M.T.. He says his favorite part about the Police Unity Tour is that he has had the privilege to meet, work with and become friends with some of the most caring and unassuming people he has ever met. His most memorable experience was escorting survivors to their seats at the Candlelight Vigil his first year. Andy is grateful for his family's support & commitment to the P.U.T.
Hugh Miller is a Captain at the Tampa Police Department where he serves as Commander of the Emergency Communications Bureau. He is a charter member of Chapter VIII and has previously served as our President. He currently serves as the South East Regional Coordinator for the Police Unity Tour National Board of Directors.Hugh started his professional life in the hospitality industry managing restaurants. After being robbed one night he decided he would rather be catching bad guys than being a victim. He started his law enforcement career as a reserve officer in Huntsville, Alabama.
